How to search this
site:
Use the buttons across the
top of the screen above to see, hear, or read one of these items, as
follows:

Click on the blue arrow ( )
to see and select a topic, and then
click on 'Search
Topics' button to return a list of all items associated with that topic, in date
order, oldest to most recent.

Type in a search term, for example a name, choose whether you want to search
for any of the words, all of the words, or the exact phrase, then click on
'Search This Site'. The items' titles, dates, topics,
descriptions, and record ids will be searched to return a list of all items
associated with the word(s) in date order, earliest to most recent.
The contents of documents themselves cannot be searched. The search is
case sensitive, so use capital letters when appropriate (eg. 'Duncan'
instead of 'duncan').
How to view the
artifacts:
In a list of items, select the item you are interested in to read a brief description and to see, hear,
or read the item.
In the
window that pops up, you will see one of the following types of items:
-
Descriptive information, followed by an
image of a photograph, newspaper article, or object. If you need to see an enlarged
version of the image, you can
change the zoom level in the browser window by adjusting the percentage on
the lower right-hand corner of the window.

Descriptive information, followed by a View Document button linking
to an
Adobe PDF document containing a text file and/or multiple images.
You will
need to click on the View Document button to see the contents of the PDF file.

Descriptive information,
followed by an audio file and a photograph. Use the media
player bar after the description to start, pause, replay, or stop the audio
file from playing. You must click the control button once to activate it
and then a second time to start it to play.
